Oriental Medicine

Chinese medicine fuses Shamanic, Taoist and Buddhist views of harmony and health.

Shamanic practices form the basis of the development of Oriental medicine.  These roots became the inspired energetic view of the human being within the environment - in relation to the elements and the forces emanating from the Cosmos.

Buddhist insights  of inter-dependent being lie behind the image of the individual as part of the great cycles of life, death and re-birth.  These views also influenced the development of healing practices.  Everything is connected therefore relationship is an essential part of being.

Taoism takes this relationship into the environment.  To be well one needs to be in harmony with the conditions of everyday life.  The Taoists encouraged harmony by relating with Nature, the elements and with each season.  By opening up to subtle energies we become more deeply connected to the natural flow of Qi around us.
